The sponsors undertake to forward, each month through the association, the full amount of the sponsorship to the centre caring for the child. Indeed, we would like to emphasise here that: the operation of the association is ensured by the annual contribution of each member, as well as by donations, and by part of the receipts of the annual gala and sales on the markets.
Sponsors will be able to contact their godchild by mail. We particularly draw your attention to the fact that the children, for the youngest, only speak Tamil, one last possibility: a meeting during a trip to India. In this regard, the association organises a trip each year which aims to facilitate this exchange, but also to introduce sponsors to southern India, so that they take into account their relationship with their godchild, their fashion of life, very different from ours, as well as from the culture of this great country.
Each year a report will be sent to the sponsors so that they can evaluate the progress of their godchild.
It’s an eminently important act because it can be the beginning of a very beautiful story. This is why we favour prior dialogue with our association, our correspondents and the centres, which, being in permanent contact with the children, are the only ones who can guide you in making the right choice.
You will first have to decide if you prefer to correspond with a boy or a girl, or if you don’t care.
Another Important Point: The language. All our children speak only Tamil (it is the official language of Tamil Nadu), some speak English, especially those who are already of an advanced age, and who learn this language at school. Very rarely one finds one who, on the side of Pondicherry, stammers French.
Finally, Hindi being the national language, some children speak it, and thanks to the school for this. There are 22 official languages in India.
